We have been learning how to independently use our self-service snack area. We know that when the green tick is on we can get ourselves some cereal. We have to check there is space, choose a bowl and then turn the dial one turn to get our cereal. We then pour our own milk, get a spoon and take a seat. While we enjoy eating it we can talk with our friends and look at the talking prompts to help us improve our speaking and communication skills. Afterwards, we need to scrape any leftovers into the bin and wash and dry our bowl and spoon ready for someone else to use. We are getting really good at doing all of this on our own!We were very excited to notice lots of ripe fruit on our trees in our grounds so decided to do some baking with it. We went out to collect some apples and plums to make crumble with, we talked carefully about how we knew which were ripe and which ones were good and bad. Once we had collected the fruit and washed it, we needed to cut it up. We talked about why it was important to wash our hands and how to use a knife safely. We then all had a go at using a knife to cut up the fruit under the supervision of a grown up. Miss Reynolds then cooked the fruit and weighed out the dry ingredients and we mixed them all together and put them on top of the fruit to make our crumble. This then went into the oven to cook. When it was ready Mrs Grange made some custard and we sat down to try it. Some of us loved it, but some of us weren't too keen, we talked about how this was okay as we all like different things but it was good that we had had a try. It has been a busy time for us in FS2 as we have been getting used to our new classroom and life in full time school. We have had lots of fun exploring our classroom and outdoor area, learning the routine of the day and making new friends. There have also been lots of firsts, such as our first time in the dinner hall, our first time in PE and our first assembly in the hall. We have all done brilliant and have taken everything in our stride, the grown ups in our class are very proud of us! Take a look at some of the pictures from our first weeks in school. |
