PE and Sport Premium
The Government provides additional funding to schools to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. This funding is ring-fenced and, therefore, can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools. Each school currently receives £16,000 plus an extra £10 per pupil each year. It is for individual schools to decide how the PE and Sport funding is spent, since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made to enhance the provision for PE.
At Athersley South we recognise the contribution of PE to the health and well-being of our children. We believe that an innovative, varied PE curriculum and extra-curricular opportunities have a positive influence on the concentration, attitude and academic achievement of all our children. Our funding enables us to continue to extend our provision for all our pupils.
