This week we have been learning all about how to stay safe on and near the roads, using resources from Brake - The Road Safety Charity. We had lots of fun outside playing 'red light, green light', creating cars and car seats out of our construction resources, using the bikes as cars and electronic traffic lights to create a pelican crossing. During the week inside, we have built our knowledge and vocabulary of road safety through our 'Talk Through the Day' sessions and towards the end of the week, we had a little (on site) walk to see what can help keep us safe and practiced what we have to do when we want to cross the road. The children all received a certificate and a high visibility key ring for all their hard work this week. Well done F2! We have been learning all about different jobs within the community and wider areas. The children have been really interested in finding out about jobs within the NHS and Social Care as well as Firefighters. Today, we were very lucky to have a visitor from the Fire Department, the children were so excited when they heard the news! Matt came to see us to talk about what a Firefight does, how they help people and what he needed to do to become a Firefighter. The children loved listening to Matt and had some very interesting questions to ask, however, their favourite part was looking at all the equipment and also trying some of it on! A big Athersley South thank you to Matt the Firefighter for making the time to come and see us. |
