In FS2 we have been learning all about Chinese New Year or in some cultures Lunar New Year. We watched videos and read about how it is celebrated and compared this to the different ways in which we all celebrate days that are special to us. Mrs Grange set up a wishing tree for us and we used our phonics knowledge to write our wishes for the year. We were really interested in the dragon and lion dances we saw on the videos we watched so decided to make our own. We had to work as a team to decorate it and then perform in our parade outside. We have been learning about how to join different materials together. Some of us designed our own outfits and then used our knowledge of joins to make them, we even had a go at sewing. We think some of us might become fashion designers in the future, what do you think of our outfits? We have been doing some work on repeating patterns in our maths group times and in provision, check out some of the patterns we made. We were given a very generous donation of a selection box for every child in EYFS and would just like to say a huge THANK YOU!
We had a super day for our winter party. We got to dance and play lots of games as well as have a special party lunch. After lunch we had a very special visitor come to school....Santa! He asked us all what we would like for Christmas and gave us all a book as a present. What a special day! |
