As part of our DT unit for this term we tasted and evaluated a range of healthy foods from around the world. In addition to this, we all made bread from scratch. We really enjoyed kneading the dough and shaping our miniature loaves. The bread was soft, fluffy and delicious when we tasted it.

Class 4 joined in with the madness that is Odd Socks Day in support of Respect. Bentley has been showing off some hidden skills in class this week. It turns out that we have a talented sculptor among us. He representation of an Easter Island Head is amazing. Well done Bentley!!
On Friday, the children were challenged to make a model of the different states of matter using a cup, rainbow drops, tin foil and sellotape. In groups, the children made a model of a solid, a liquid and a gas. As you can see, they all did really well in creating the models and enjoyed taking a few rainbow drops home too! We are looking at how to multiply and divide in our Maths sessions this term. On Thursday, we looked at how to divide by sharing. The children were given different amounts of bean bags and we had to share them between the hoops. All of the children were thoroughly engaged and this helped them back in the classroom where they continued to use sharing to divide. All week, Class 4 have been looking at what makes a healthy, balanced meal. We designed our own pizzas and yesterday, we made them. Most of us tried something new too! Check out how we did it below in our video. Today, Class 4 took the opportunity to go outside and participate in some partitioning races whilst learning about 3-digit numbers and their values. We hope you like our video. We had an amazing World Book Day in Class 4 filled with reading, quizzes and craft activities . Here is a picture of our costumes.
We have been learning about the diets of different animals. During our afternoon science session, we researched where different animals came from and what types of food they ate. Then we could decide whether the animal was a carnivore, omnivore or herbivore. We used ipads and books to do our research. Here is a quick video of our researching skills. We have been doing some experiments with magnets. First, we made a compass using a magnet. We charged up the pin by stroking it with a magnet. It then showed us north or south depending on which end of the magnet we used. Second, we tested out lots of different materials to see if they were magnetic. See if you have anything magnetic at home that you can use. |
