We have a new addition to Class 1, it is 'The Reading Bear'. He has joined our class to share his love of reading. Each week a child takes home the bear with a book and treats to share with the people at home. At the end of reading bears time with you each child shares something that they enjoyed about the story in our class journal, this is shared with everyone in class the following week. Can you convince other children to read the book too? The book is then added to the bookshelf for children to enjoy if they choose. The Reading Bear can't wait to visit you soon! This half term in science we have been looking at properties of materials. One of the properties we have explored is buoyancy. If a material is denser than the water it will sink. We have tested a variety of materials and as we are reading 'The Pirates Next Door' as part of our writing we designed and made the family a new boat. We used the materials we had tested and carefully constructed our vessels! We tested them and we were all very happy that they all floated and would make a great new home for the 'Jolly Rodger' family! Why not ask us which materials we chose and why? On Friday we all came to school in our PJ's to support Children in Need! We talked a lot about the charity and how important it is. We also discussed how we can help and support other people at home and in school by being kind and helpful. We had a lot of fun and are all excited to put our ideas into practise.
