Can you name a range of polygons? Can you spot shapes that are polygons and identify ones that are not? Can you sort shapes into different categories? Finally, (this is tricky) can you identify regular and irregular polygons? Well, come on down to Year 4 maths, where we are having the best time doing all of that and more!Super science research! Ask us about carnivores, herbivores and omnivores because we did a super job researching different animal's habitats and foods today. We also compared animal's diets to the nutrition humans need and found a lot of similarities. We learnt how to build and add our own switches to our electrical circuits today. We had to use lots of problem solving thinking to systematically swap out components to first build a complete circuit. Then, we built the switches from card, split pins, paper clips and bulldog clips and added them to our circuits to turn the bulb on and off.We loved our learning in art this week. We explored mixing colours using powder paints and made our own colour charts of the earthy tones we liked. Then, we created our own Stone Age 'Stories without words' with positive and negative prints of our prehistoric stencil shapes. We think they look fab!
We had a brilliant time learning to be historians when we examined a collection of artefacts this week. We used images from a Bronze Age collection in the British Museum and discussed what we thought they could be before attaching the labels to them. We learnt a lot about what life might have been like during the Bronze Age in Britain. We love sharing and recommending books together in our weekly library time. We are so lucky to have such a wonderful space to enjoy.
What a fabulous afternoon we have had!
We demonstrated wonderful team work in our writing skills lesson this week. We were brilliant at building a set of instructions together. We used the adverbials, subheadings and imperative verbs in the steps to correctly organise and label all of the different features that we need to use in our own instruction writing. |
