What a fabulous afternoon we have had!

In our history topic, we are learning all about life in Prehistoric Britain. We have linked this to our artwork using colour and print. Today, we absolutely loved making our own natural paints using a range of colourful foods. Take a look at the bright colours we made.

We also used our hands to make stencils and sprayed and sponged paint to make positive and negative prints. We were inspired by the 'The Cueva de las Manos' in Argentina to make our own version of the 'Cave of Hands'.

We demonstrated wonderful team work in our writing skills lesson this week. We were brilliant at building a set of instructions together. We used the adverbials, subheadings and imperative verbs in the steps to correctly organise and label all of the different features that we need to use in our own instruction writing.

We had lots of fun learning important safety messages in our assembly workshop from Konflux theatre.
We talked about keeping ourselves safe on and around roads and about the importance of keeping ourselves active and healthy while we travel. Also, about the choices we can make to take care of our environment too.

We had an amazing day learning all about the fascinating civilisation of the Ancient Maya. Rob, from Historic Workshops was brilliant: he made learning so much fun and was very knowledgeable about the topic.

We have really enjoyed our science unit on how plants grow. In this lesson, we investigated how the stems of flowering plants transport water and minerals. We predicted how long it would take to transport the liquid along two different length paper towel 'stems' and, after making careful observations, we recorded our results.

What a brilliant day!
We shared our favourite books, looked fabulous and had a full afternoon of storytelling with a delicious treat at the end of it. We really are a very lucky bunch. Well done everyone.

Delicious DT Work

We had a great day baking our first batch of biscuits for our new DT Project.
First, we tasted a range of popular biscuits and evaluated them for taste, appearance and packaging. Then, we made a batch of biscuits to taste before deciding how to adapt them for our target audience.

It was a yummy task and we had excellent feedback from Mrs Sanderson and Mr Wheelwright who happily joined in with our market research. After that, the biscuit designs were very exciting until we had to make difficult decisions to stay within budget! We can't wait to make and package our final products.
