Class 3 had an exciting time this Thursday as they took part in a fun science experiment to discover which materials are waterproof! The children were tasked with helping Winnie the Pooh by designing an umbrella for him. They tested different materials, such as plastic, fabric, paper towels and card, to see which would keep Winnie the Pooh dry on a rainy day.In Geography we are learning about where we live. We are learning about continents, countries and capital cities. We have had some fantastic costumes for world book day today! Class 3 have had a fantastic morning writing our own book reports and listening to lots of stories from many adults!
For World Book Day, Class 3 red the story of the Snail and the Whale. We then compared the size of a snail to the size of a great humpback whale.
We learned that snails are around 5 centimetres long (5cm), around the length of your thumb! We also learned that a humpback whale can grow up to 16 Metres (16m) long! A humpback whale couldn't fit into our classroom so we went outside and visualised just how long that really is! In Art this term Class 3 have been making tiles out of clay. We designed what we would like them to look like and then used a range of techniques such as kneading, pinching and scoring to mould our clay how we wanted. We then decorated our tiles with paint. Can you tell what animals we have created?
