We absolutely loved coming to school in pyjamas and Pudsey themed clothes today! The children were all very excited to show off their outfits and found it really funny that we had pyjamas on.
Class 2 engaged so well with their science lessons last term - We definitely have some super scientists in our class!
The children learned all about different materials and explored these - discovering their different textures and how they can be manipulated. The children even did an experiment to find out which material would be best to use for an umbrella! The children all decided that the plastic material would be best. Come and ask us all about our science topic last term. Class 2 settled back into school life wonderfully last term and did lots of super learning.
In their writing lessons, the children looked at the story 'Room on the Broom' and did lots of super writing in their books, writing the names of characters and the different objects that were dropped in the story. The children even looked at adjectives and thought of some super words to describe the characters in the story! We have some super mathematicians in class 2! The children worked so incredibly hard in their maths sessions last term and really blew Miss Baranski's socks off! The children were all really proud of what they had achieved and loved showing their work to the adults in class. We can't wait to see what the children achieve this half term. As part of our geography topic 'Going On Safari'. We are learning animals that can be found in Kenya, as well as learning all about maps and how to read them. Today we combined the 2! We used maps and compass points to navigate around the plains of Kenya, discovering a variety of animals. Learning songs to support our learning. We then challenged our selves to follow the coordinates on a map of our school to find different items. We also recorded different landmarks and objects that could be found in a variety of coordinates. We are quite the experts now! KS1 have been lucky enough to visit the Yorkshire Wildlife Park as part of out 'Let's Go On Safari' topic in Geography. We really enjoyed looking at all of the different animals, finding out about which country they were from and how the Safari Park had made them feel at home by creating a comfortable habitat for them. We will be looking at where the countries are on our class globe. Our highlights of the day were the Lemurs as we got to get really close to them, and the cheeky monkeys. The monkeys were very funny and made us laugh. We also watched a creepy crawly show whilst eating our lunch! We feel very lucky to have been on such a fun and exciting adventure today! For a lot of us this is our first class trip and we all had the best time! Did you know that in class 2 we are persuasion experts! We have already persuaded Mrs Sanderson to let us transform our woodland into an enchanted one. We have now moved onto our next challenge, persuading the School Council that we need to do more recycling at Athersley South Primary School. We outlined some superb arguments for our points of view and even used paragraphs in our letters! We are amazing writers in Class 2! |
We have had so much fun celebrating the Platinum Jubilee in Class 2! We came dressed in red, white and blue and created our very own fabulous crowns using tessellating patterns. We made our own sandwiches and decorated biscuits which we ate through the corridors in school as a whole school. It was such a fun, happy environment to enjoy each others company. We all had the best day! |
| In Class 2 we have been learning the 7 continents of the world. We have especially enjoyed singing and performing the continents song! Check out our amazing geography knowledge. Ask us about some of the key facts of each of the continents, I bet you could learn something from us! |
| In Class 2 we have been reading 'Who Swallowed Stanley?' |
