KS1 have been lucky enough to visit the Yorkshire Wildlife Park as part of out 'Let's Go On Safari' topic in Geography. We really enjoyed looking at all of the different animals, finding out about which country they were from and how the Safari Park had made them feel at home by creating a comfortable habitat for them. We will be looking at where the countries are on our class globe. Our highlights of the day were the Lemurs as we got to get really close to them, and the cheeky monkeys. The monkeys were very funny and made us laugh. We also watched a creepy crawly show whilst eating our lunch! We feel very lucky to have been on such a fun and exciting adventure today! For a lot of us this is our first class trip and we all had the best time!

Did you know that in class 2 we are persuasion experts! We have already persuaded Mrs Sanderson to let us transform our woodland into an enchanted one. We have now moved onto our next challenge, persuading the School Council that we need to do more recycling at Athersley South Primary School. We outlined some superb arguments for our points of view and even used paragraphs in our letters! We are amazing writers in Class 2! |
We have had so much fun celebrating the Platinum Jubilee in Class 2! We came dressed in red, white and blue and created our very own fabulous crowns using tessellating patterns. We made our own sandwiches and decorated biscuits which we ate through the corridors in school as a whole school. It was such a fun, happy environment to enjoy each others company. We all had the best day! |
| In Class 2 we have been learning the 7 continents of the world. We have especially enjoyed singing and performing the continents song! Check out our amazing geography knowledge. Ask us about some of the key facts of each of the continents, I bet you could learn something from us! |
| In Class 2 we have been reading 'Who Swallowed Stanley?' |
In Class 2 we have been working hard on our persuasive writing skills. We have put these skills to the test by trying to persuade Mrs Sanderson to let us transform out school woodland into an 'enchanted' one that will hopefully house a variety of mystical creatures.
We are pleased to report that our persuasive skills are strong and did the trick so keep your eyes peeled for signs of our hard work in the coming weeks!

In Class 2 we have had fun searching for shapes that tessellate! We found so many around our school. See if you can find some at home. Remember there are rules, shapes can only tessellate if they join with no gaps and do not overlap.
After finding the Bog Baby in our woodland class 2 have been thinking about how we can make it a better habitat for Bog Babies and other creatures too.
This week we have been litter picking and planting bluebells (a Bog Babies favourite flower to swing through.)
We have done such a great job and can't wait to watch it grow into a fabulous habitat. We are hoping to find lots of new and interesting creatures enjoying it soon.
We had such fun on world book day! The children in class 2 brought in and came dressed as their favourite book characters. Throughout the day the children had opportunities to share books and tell their friends about books that they enjoy reading at home and school. We also even measured some world book day characters accurately with a ruler in our maths lesson.
