Recently we have been looking at the story of The Three Little Pigs. We have listened to the story all together and have talked about the characters. We make story maps to retell the story adding our own illustrations. Some children decided to make their own houses for the pigs to live in using materials in our construction area. We used puppets to retell the story. We enjoyed pretending to huff and puff like The Big Bad Wolf and blow the houses down.
Recently we have had two new additions to nursery, meet our new Beat Babies. Our Beat Babies have come to nursery to help us learn about beat, rhythm and rhyme. They are absolutely adorable and we love them to bits! Our morning children have named our orange boy Beat Baby Wish and our afternoon nursery have named our girl Beat Baby Tink. Wish and Tink live together in a special basket and come out to see us when we sing their special song. Sometimes they hide special clues in their basket to tell us about where they have been or give us clues about what songs they would like to sing. They love cuddles and singing, sometimes they even cuddle each other’s tails! Over the next few weeks they will be introducing us to new songs to help us develop our knowledge of rhythms, rhymes and how to keep a beat.
We had great fun in the snow. We threw snowballs, worked together to roll giant balls of snow and even painted pictures in the snow. We enjoyed looking at the different footprints our wellies made as well as jumping in the muddy puddles. After exploring the winter weather we headed back inside to warm up with fruit and hot chocolate. We can’t wait for it to snow again!
