Jubilee fun!

6/6/2022

The week before half term we had lots of fun learning about Queen Elizabeth and her platinum jubilee. We made our own crowns and then prepared for a jubilee party.
We baked and decorated buns, made sandwiches and decorated flags. The party was so much fun with lots of dancing and even bubbles.
Happy Royal Jubilee everyone!

Thank you to all of the parents who bought a ticket for our Halloween Hamper Raffle, we raised an amazing £91! We will be using this to buy some new resources for our Foundation Stage. Miss Nock, our student from Barnsley College, pulled out a ticket and the lucky winner in FS1 was thrilled with his prize!

Yummy Apple Pie!

We noticed that our apple tree was bursting with juicy, ripe apples so we helped Miss Reynolds to pick them. We collected them in a basket and then sorted them into good and bad apples. We washed and tried some of the apples, they were very tasty. Some children then worked together with Mrs. Grange to bake an apple pie. Once it cooled down we tried some with our milk and at home time. It was delicious!

We also began to explore different textures and made collage pictures. We talked about how materials felt and looked. Some were squishy, some were smooth, some were hard and some were fury. We chose the ones we liked the feel of for our collage.

End of Summer Term

We have had a very busy term filled with lots of fun learning so it was only fair to have a little treat on our last day in F1 together. During the morning Mrs Sung and the children noticed a hedgehog stuck in our outdoor area. Mrs Sung and Miss Pell put on some gloves and carefully untangled the hedgehog. The grown ups and children were worried the hedgehog may have been hurt so Miss Pell took the hedgehog to the Vets. The Vet called Miss Pell and said that the hedgehog was ok and needed to be put back where it was found so it could go back to his family.  We released the hedgehog (we decided to call it Harold) and went back inside so it was nice and quiet. Later in the afternoon, we went back outside and Harold had gone back to his family!
What an exciting day we have had!

There will be lots of changes when we return in September; some children will stay in F1 and some children will start a new learning journey in F2. Mrs Hale and Mrs Lees will be in F1 and Miss Pell and Miss Reynolds will be the teachers in F2.

We hope you all have an amazing summer break and cannot wait to see you all in September.

Over the last two days we have had something very exciting happen in F1... Our caterpillars have turned into beautiful butterflies. The children were amazed and so excited to see the transformation. Now, we have to wait for the weather to get warmer so we can release them outside.
