We have had the BEST time visiting the National Space Centre in Leicester. All of year 5/6 went as we are currently learning all about Earth and Space. The day was amazing with the highlight being a 360 degree planetarium show which blew our minds! The children were incredibly well behaved and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Take a look at some of our photos from the day - there are 140 to enjoy :) Completed Headdresses We have recently completed our Greek Headdresses and we are pleased with our efforts. Take a look at our finished products. Art - Creating Greek Headdresses In our Art lessons this term we have been designing and creating our own Greek Headdresses. We have been incredibly resilient as we started to create our design with wire which we found tricky to manipulate and shape. We then used Mod Rock to create shape to our headdresses and allowed it to set. We then enjoyed an afternoon painting and adding embellishments to them. Have a look at our photos at some of us at work. Due to the ongoing Covid-19 restrictions, the annual Barnsley Music Festival was unable to take place at the Metrodome. Instead the children joined a virtual festival and even joined in with a piece of music that they had been practising. The children also had the opportunity to watch children from other schools perform. We are very proud of our children for their efforts and are also grateful to Mr Lennon who tutors Class 7 every week. Electrical CircuitsThis week we have been learning all about electricity. The children have been working incredibly hard and have been excited about their learning. They have worked collaboratively to build different circuits and investigate the brightness of the bulb. SNOW DAY! I absolutely LOVE snow so when I arrived at work yesterday there was only one thing for it.....to go out and play! We got wrapped up, put on our wellies and off we went. I think myself, Mrs Larkin and Mrs Walton were possibly more excited than the children. We had SNOW much fun (see what I did there) throwing snowballs and building snowmen. For some of us, it was our first time building a one! Although......the children seemed to enjoy throwing snowballs at me just a little too much. Have a look at our photos below to see all the fun that we had. I hope everyone at home has been able to enjoy the snow just as much as we did. We are Geographers In geography we have been doing some fieldwork. First, we recapped the eight points of a compass and studied a map of our school grounds. Then, with a partner, we directed each other around the grounds. We had to remember to keep orientating the map as we moved around.
