Check out our awesome singing where we sang in two different groups then came back together for the chorus. We really enjoyed learning about Bronze Age in history. We worked well together to think about what the artefacts could have been used for during Prehistoric times. We had great fun learning how to estimate the length of items around school and how to accurately measure them.In Music, we have started to learn and perform the song: Home is Where the Heart is. This is a country song with a simple and catchy melody. The children learned that the texture of the song is quite thick with many different layers of instruments being played and vocals. Here is a little snippet of the children performing for the song for the first time. In Art, we have been making cross curricular links between our history unit - Prehistoric Britain. We have learned that people living in the stone age used to draw on the walls of caves to tell their stories. As paint had not been invented, people in prehistory obtained colour from naturally occurring items such as fruits and vegetables. We had a go at blending some vegetables to see if we could experiment making our own prehistoric paints. In Maths today, Year enjoyed exploring parts and wholes with strips of paper and coloured cubes. The children were able to create different unit fractions and understood how many parts made the whole. They used a range of vocabulary in their discussions and reasoned using stem sentences such as; I know that the whole is 4 and that each part is worth one quarter because each part is split into 4 equal sized parts. Class 5 have gone all our for World Book Day this year! Have a look at some of the fantastic costumes that the children (and staff) have dressed up in. We have celebrated by enjoying reading for pleasure, a World Book Day quiz, listening to a range of different stories with the adults from years 3 and 4 and even had hot chocolate in the afternoon. All of the children in Years 3 and 4 have had an absolutely fabulous time at their Christmas Party today. They enjoyed a wonderful, party food buffet in the dining hall and then went and danced their socks off in the hall, complete with festive games. Take a look at the fun we have had. On Friday, all the children in Years 3 and 4 were treated to a Forest School fire experience. |
