This week, Class 8 are putting their sewing skills to the test in order to create their very own stuffed toys! Today we concentrated upon perfecting the running stitch.
In Year 5, we were incredibly lucky to visit Theatre Royal Wakefield before we broke up for Christmas and what a treat it was! We were able to see the Panto - Dick Whittington and the children and staff had the best time. For some of the children in Year 5, it was the first time they had ever experienced a pantomime and the joy of being in an actual theatre. The children could not believe their eyes when we entered.
The children thoroughly enjoyed it and sung, clapped and booed their way throughout the performance. We even received a treat in the interval (ice cream or ice lolly). We all had the best morning out which was made even better when the ushers asked to speak me (Mrs Gollick) to say how excellently behaved the Year 5 children of Athersley South were. All of the teachers were incredibly proud of how the children conducted themselves. This would not have been possible, if not for the generous and kind donation from Roz and her husband. We can't thank you enough for the experience, we really did have the best morning. |
