Bjorn the Viking Visitor

10/1/2024

Today we have kick started our new History topic 'Vikings Vs Anglo Saxons' with a visit from a Viking called Bjorn. We all had lots of fun and cannot wait to continue our learning all about Vikings.
Our first task was to complete a Viking quiz, while doing the quiz we found out lots about daily life, Viking battles, archaeology, Gods and their alphabet.
Next we played a Viking game of skill and tactics called hnefatafl. Some of us got quite competitive!
We also had the opportunity to see and handle real Viking artefacts as well as find out more about the daily life of Vikings.

Geography Fieldwork

9/1/2024

This afternoon we got wrapped up warm and went outside to complete our geography fieldwork. We used maps of the school grounds and Ordnance Survey Maps to solve questions using grid references, calculating distance and map symbols. We had lots of fun and learnt lots too!

Oh yes we did!

12/12/2023

On Tuesday 12th December, the Year 5 children were very lucky to be donated a trip to the pantomime. We went to see Sleeping Beauty at Wakefield Royal Theatre and all had a fantastic time. For some children, it was their first visit to a theatre so was extra special for them. We shouted, we sang and some of us even had a dance!

Tie Dye Fun

20/11/2023

We have had a great deal of fun in class this term. We have produced our own Tie-dyed material that we will use to sew waistcoats for our teddies. We hope that you like them!

Benjamin Zephaniah.....Performed

20/11/2023

Performance Poetry

25/10/2023

We have continued with our exploration of the poet Benjamin Zephaniah. The children have been performing a range of poems and have enjoyed trying to use the local dialects as the poet intended. We've had a lot of fun - even Mr W had a go!!

Poetry

16/10/2023

In reading this week, we are learning about the poetry of Benjamin Zephaniah. Today we learnt about him as a person and looked at one of his poems called 'Who's Who'. We discussed the poem and decide that the key message was that we can all be who we want to be! Take a look at some of us performing this poem.

An Amazing Start to the Year in Class 7

11/9/2023

Wow, what a first week it has been! By the end of it we were all well and truly worn out, hot under the collar (thanks to the weather) but had achieved so much. All of the children have settled so well and have shown that they are ready for the challenges which lay ahead.

We also need to say a huge well done to our Class 7 school councilors Lukas, Caleb and Casey!

Understanding Gravity

26/4/2023

In Science, we have started to learn all about forces - starting off with gravity. We explored what gravity is, how it is created and the effect it has within our solar system. We also discussed how the craters on the moon have been created and because of the lack of atmosphere how they are still clearly visible as they haven't eroded away. The children in class 7 then had a lot of fun creating their own 'craters' by choosing two different weights to see what the effect would be when a different sized masses hit the surface of 'the moon' (our tray filled with flour). We also enjoyed making quite a mess!

What an EGGcellent Competiton!

30/3/2023

Here are our entries into this year's Easter egg decorating competition! I think you will agree we have some CRACKING entries. Check out the Praise Page for this year's winners. Well done to all the children who entered.
