We had a very special visitor in school today, a hindu preist cam to tell us all about the hindu faith and shared stories form the hindu culture. We got dressed up, took part in a traditional hindu dance and listened to hindu stories and even role played the Rama and Sita story. It was so much fun!
Key Stage One were so lucky to be able to welcome Florence Nightingale to visit our school. She told us all about her life and key events from her life time like the crowning of Queen victoria, the start of the victorian era, the invention of the lightbulb and the steam train as well as much more. We attended Florences nursing school where we cleaned up the hospital in Scutari and nursed injured soldiers back to health. We also learnt about May Secole who was a key person of the time who also nursed soldiers back to health. We had the best day with Florence and learnt so much about her. In Class One we have been celebrating that everyone is different and proudly wore our odd socks in support of antibullying week, check out our odd socks!
We looked at the slogan for this year 'Choose Respect'. We also throught about how we can 'Choose Respect' in our school life and home life. We enjoyed siging the Andy and his odd socks gang. |
